A FREE Way to Get More Engagement: Start asking the right questions!

If you're looking to get more engagement on social media, one of the best things you can do is start asking questions.

In fact, asking a daily question can 5X your engagement without changing a single other thing! Now... that's powerful stuff!

By posing questions to your followers, you're not only encouraging them to interact with you, but you're also giving them a chance to share their own thoughts and opinions. And when people feel like they're being heard, they're more likely to keep coming back for more.🥳
Of course, not all questions are created equal. In order to get the most engagement possible, you'll want to ask questions that are interesting, thought-provoking, and relevant to your audience like these.

So which questions should you be asking on social media to get more engagement?

Polls and surveys:

Asking your followers to vote on something or answer a short survey can be a great way to get them involved. Not only will they feel like their opinion matters, but you'll also get valuable insights into what they're thinking.

Open-ended questions:

These are some of the best questions to ask because they give people the opportunity to share as much or as little as they want. For example, instead of asking "What did you do today?" you could ask "What's something interesting that happened to you today?"

These types of questions are more likely to spark a conversation because they require people to share their thoughts and opinions. For example, instead of asking "Do you like X?" you could ask "What do you think about X?" or "How do you feel about X?"

Controversial questions:

These types of questions can be great for getting people to interact with you, but be careful not to alienate any of your followers. If you're going to ask a controversial question, make sure it's done in a respectful way.

Stories and Experiences:

Ask people questions that will lead them to share their stories or experiences. These can be great for building relationships and connecting with your followers on a deeper level.

Industry or niche-specific questions:

By asking questions that are relevant to what you do, you can not only get people talking, but you can also position yourself as an expert in your field. You can also create tutorials and reviews that serve your ideal client and ask for their feedback through engaging questions!

By asking questions, you're giving your followers a chance to be heard by making it all about your ideal client. And when people feel like they're being heard, they're more likely to stick around and continue interacting with you. So if you're looking for ways to increase engagement on social media, start by asking some questions.

Other ways to up your overall engagement:

End your emails and newsletters with relevant questions- You can increase engagement by asking your readers to reply to your emails or newsletters with questions or comments pertaining to your content. Ask them a direct question and encourage them to answer. Be sure to reply to them in a timely manner.

Pose questions in social media groups and encourage participation- If you use social media you may find yourself hosting groups or pages. Being social on those pages is easier if you ask questions. This can get the ball rolling and get people contributing to the fun.  Making sure you pick the right type of Facebook Group for your business, can make all the difference in getting more engagement too, so be sure not to overlook it!

Asking for feedback or testimonials- Letting your customers know you welcome feedback is a great way to better understand their experience with your brand, be it great or not-so-great. Asking for feedback via autoresponder or during a follow up connection can let your customer know their opinion matters. Handle critical feedback well and you may win back an unhappy customer.

Make sure you’re open to all types of feedback

Not all questions lead to sunshine and rose petals.

Being open to critical feedback can help you more than you realize. No one wants to hear they are doing a poor job, and in the end, the customer isn’t always right. BUT, there are benefits to hearing criticism when it serves a good purpose. Make sure your questions solicit tough feedback when appropriate. An example could be “How are we doing? We welcome your feedback about your experience with our services…”

Asking questions is an easy way to get people to engage. It's also a wonderful way to give your online presence a purpose! People love being a part of the creative process and when prompted can be very involved participants in your business. Social media is an excellent place to ask questions and get engagement. Determine what’s the best way to engage your audience and start asking some questions today!
